World Photography Day 2022

To celebrate World Photography Day 2022, we are pleased to feature the beautiful lens behind some of Yamamori’s unique images

Lazar Ionela Maria

Why did you get into photography?

I’ve always been passionate about preserving memories. I got my first camera when I was nine years old. My uncle gave it to me as a gift for my birthday. It wasn’t anything special or even near professional. From that moment, I fell in love with pictures.

For me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place.

What are your aspirations?

My greatest goal is to get people to see what I see. I want to be a storyteller. To tell a story through my lens. When people look at one of my pictures, I want them to feel something. Happiness, excitement, peacefulness, something. As long as I wake up with a feeling Of someone through a picture, I’m on the good path.

What motivated you to shoot for Yamamori?

I’ll be honest with you. I’ve never photographed food before, and that was a new challenge for me. I was there before, enjoyed a few evening dinners, and loved the food and restaurant. When a friend of mine sent me the post saying they are looking for a photographer, I was like, “ why not? I’ll give it a try and see what happens next”.  For me was an honour!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I see myself continuing to challenge myself in terms of using photography to express my voice… whatever voice that might be in 5 years.
