Our History

In 1995, Derek Ryan opened the first Yamamori restaurant location on George’s Street, Dublin. What started as a single establishment has since blossomed into a triumvirate of thriving restaurants and bars in the city centre, each celebrated for its commitment to delivering traditional, authentic Japanese dishes, superb cocktails, friendly service, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Yamamori South City, established in 1995, remains the flagship location. Boasting an array of delights, including tempura, sushi, Japanese grill, and freshly prepared ramen, it has secured its place as the pioneer of Japanese cuisine in Dublin. 

Beyond its culinary offerings, Yamamori South has etched a lively history into the city’s landscape, complete with a friendly and dedicated staff, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all. We will celebrate our 30th anniversary in August 2025 and we believe that the Yamamori Group will continue to serve Dubliners as a household name in dining and thrive as a bustling business for years to come.
