YAMAMORI TENGU

Yamamori tengu opened its doors to dancers in 2013. Adorned with genuine Japanese artifacts the club is overlooked by the legendary creature ‘tengu’, a mischievous supernatural being. Warm lights, friendly faces and a bar stocked with both local and Japanese beverages create a unique atmosphere.

Tengu’s dance floor has been an integral part of Irish nightlife for almost a decade for the ravers, music lovers and everyone in between. Its DJ booth has hosted some of the biggest local & international names in dance music, Sunil Sharpe, or: la, ben ufo, haai, antal, giant swan and many more.

LOST & FOUND FORM

OUR WELFARE PLEDGE

SAFETY - INCLUSION - DIVERSITY

At Yamamori Tengu, we pride ourselves on making our club A PLACE FOR EVERYONE. We are open to conversations on these topics to work together with the wider community, so we continue to build on our strengths as a venue.

SAFE SPACES

At Tengu, we aim to provide a safe space for all our visitors, staff and performing artists.

We are developing a new ‘Safety Monitor’ project whereby our monitors will be present and visible at all club nights to actively work to prevent bullying, harassment or discriminatory behaviour and address it when it does occur. These monitors overtime will join our night-time staff in further safety education/instruction/training.

We encourage all our staff to take a victim-centred approach when dealing with such matters. Everyone has a duty in calling out unacceptable behaviour when they see it and as a community, we want to progress to a stage where unacceptable behaviour is a rare thing and we have surpassed a 'prevention phase'.

“We have zero tolerance for: violence, non-consensual touching, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist or other discriminatory languages” - Tengu Team

“We will foster spaces that allow everybody to feel safe, welcome, and free to be themselves” - Tengu Team

INCLUSION

Tengu aims to embed inclusion and diversity into everything we do from the bar staff, security, lineups, artists, and everyone behind the scenes. We are all responsible for creating an environment that is diverse and welcoming. We are all responsible for maintaining an anti-racist space and working towards supporting our community.

Every person regardless of their race, ethnicity, nationality, class, gender identity and gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, physical condition or ability has the right to enjoy music in a club or party environment that is free from bullying, or harassment or discrimination of any kind. We are a small community; we have an opportunity and responsibility to push for serious change.

DIVERSITY

Accountability is crucial if we are going to see any change. Line-up diversity is very important to us at all levels. The Tengu team is available to assist wherever possible, e.g., suggesting names at the local and international level – we want to open up this conversation with promoters and ensure line-ups reflect the wealth of talent on our island.

We want to work with progressive and forward-thinking collectives. We will not give the green light to promoters who consistently have lineups that do not demonstrate diversity.

Pay – all support acts should be paid a min of 100Euros. Pay transparency is incredibly important to us and so fee distribution should be fair. As a venue, we are happy to help look at cost breakdown with promoters if needed.

“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.” - Tengu team
